{ The Fine Print }

The auctioneer, wherever it is used, means Hookerson-Blough or Mrs. Huizenga. Mrs. Huizenga refers to the business and not to a sole person or representative.

Each lot is subject to a premium of 10% payable by all buyers as part of the purchase price. Applicable taxes (HST) are collected.

While the auctioneer will attempt to describe correctly each lot to be sold, guarantee is not made of the correctness of the description, the physical condition, authenticity, attribution, and no statement shall be deemed such a warranty, representation or condition; and no sale will be set aside on account of any imperfections not noted. Each lot is sold “as is”, “where is” and without recourse. The onus is on the bidder to review the lot during preview, or to arrange for prior examination of auction items. Many lots are of an age or nature which precludes them from being in pristine condition. Buyers must satisfy themselves as to the nature and condition of any items offered for sale.

All photographic images are presented solely for guidance and are not to be relied upon in terms of tone or colour or to reveal any imperfections in the items. The Autioneer retains the right to use images of items presented and prices realized for promotion or advertisement.

The auctioneer has the right to refuse any bid and to advance the bidding at his absolute discretion. The highest bidder accepted by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. If any dispute shall arise between bidders, or in the event of doubt on the part of the auctioneer as to the bid, the auctioneer may, at his discretion, determine the successful bidder or he may re-offer the lot or strike a bid.

If the auctioneer decides that any opening bid is too low, he may reject the same. The auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot from the sale or to divide any lot, or to combine any two or more at his sole discretion.

The auctioneer has the right to bid on behalf of any consignor. Absentee bids may be left at any time before or during the auction, either in person, by phone, or by means of electronic communication once contact information has been obtained. Bidding on their behalf may take place under the house bidder number, or under bidder numbers assigned. Once an absentee bid has been accepted, it is irrevocable and the bidder is subject to all auction terms and conditions.

At any time prior to 6pm on the day of the sale the auctioneer reserves the right to offer items at a predetermined “Buy it Now” price. “Buy it Now” prices are not reflective of auction prices, which may be lower or higher than the stated price. Once the preview before the auction begins, this option is invalid. Post–auction, the auctioneer reserves the right to offer for sale any lots unsold at a negotiated price. Regular fees and taxes may apply.

Ownership of the offered lot will pass immediately to the bidder, and the bidder assumes full risk and responsibility on the sale of the lot and will pay the full purchased price. If the required payment is not complied with, the lot or lots purchased by this bidder may, at the auctioneer’s absolute discretion, be put up again and re-sold; offered to an under-bidder; revert to property of Mrs. Huizenga; or be returned to the consignor.

Notwithstanding the previous conditions of sale, if within 24 hours after the sale of the lot the purchaser gives notice to Mrs. Huizenga of any issue arising from the lot or bidding, the auctioneer shall have the right to determine whether to rescind the sale. Compensation will take form in store credit that is not applicable to future auctions, unless arrangements are made at Mrs. Huizenga’s discretion.

Payment shall be made by cash, credit card or Interac. Store credit is not applicable to auction items.

All property shall be removed by the purchaser at his expense at the time of sale unless arrangements are made for storage or delivery; and not later than two business days following the sale unless prior arrangement is made. If it is not so removed, paid or unpaid items left beyond 14 days become property of Mrs. Huizenga.
